Wrap Up and Homework: We’ve
been discussing what terms are appropriate surrounding the immigration issue. We’ve
discussed how some people and media organizations perceive the term “illegal
immigrant” as insensitive while others, like PBS News, continue to use the
term. What is your opinion? Is the term “illegal immigrant” offensive? What
would be an alternative term? Tonight’s homework is to write a half page
response to this question—is using the term “illegal immigrant” acceptable?
